Milford High has a strict steroid-use policy that appears in the student athletic handbook, which is given to every athlete on every sports team to be reviewed and signed by the athlete and a parent or guardian. The book specifically states that possession or use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs and illegal use of controlled substances is strictly forbidden and that any athlete guilty of an infraction is subject to consequences. For a first offense, the athlete isn’t allowed to participate with the team in any way for 21 days, and if the number of days is greater than the remainder of the season, the days are added to the next season in which the athlete participates. Signs of steroid use include aggressiveness, bad attitude, skin change, purple or red spots on the body, swelling of the feet or legs, shaking or trembling, body odor and severe acne. read more
